How It Works
HOW DOES THE PAYMENT WORK?
We are currently charging $59 (CAD) per 60 minutes. We hold the payment and only transfer it to the mentor after the meeting has been completed. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Apple Pay, and PayPal.
For Application Reviews, we charge $99 per full application.
If you would like only Secondary Application, or reviewing Personal Statement, we charge $59.

HOW DO I CHOOSE A MENTOR?
All of our mentors are verified Canadian, Australian, or U.S. medical students or residents, so all of them have gone through the application process and were successfully accepted into medical education. You can further refine your search by the location where the mentor has completed his or her training. As we grow, you can see reviews and ratings of mentors and select accordingly.
HOW DO I CONNECT WITH MY MENTOR?
IS IT SKYPE?
No! We use a powerful video-conferencing platform www.appear.in (not Skype). This technology provides a stable, high quality video connection and allows you to connect with your mentor with one click on a link (no hassle of creating accounts and adding contacts). It works on any device - iPhone, Android, PC and Mac (Chrome, Firefox or Explorer).
DO VIVO MENTOR MEETINGS FOLLOW A SCRIPT?
HOW DO YOU RUN A TYPICAL TRADITIONAL MOCK INTERVIEW SESSION?
We provide a comprehensive guideline for our mentors to make the mock interview a great session to help you with the real medical school interview. The typical session would contain 8 questions, including a combination of personal type questions, experience-based questions, ethical scenarios, and role modelling scenarios. The questions would last for approximately 40 minutes followed by 20-minutes of personalized feedback. Your mentor can also send you a written summary of the feedback so you don't have to scramble writing notes!
HOW DO YOU RUN A TYPICAL MOCK MMI INTERVIEW?
We provide a comprehensive guideline for our mentors to make the MMI session an excellent practice opportunity for the real MMI medical school interview. The typical session would contain 4 stations, including a combination of personal type questions, ethical scenarios, and acting scenarios. Each station will show you a prompt for 2 minutes, followed by 10 minutes of acting. Your session will end with 20-minutes of personalized feedback and guidelines to help you develop a systematic approach for the difficult MMI scenarios. Your mentor will also send you a written summary of the feedback so you don't have to scramble writing notes!
WHAT IF SOMETHING COMES UP AND I HAVE TO RESCHEDULE?
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE APPOINTMENT IS COMPLETED?
You will receive an email after the meeting requesting your feedback on the mentor as well as the overall experience with Vivo Mentor. You are welcome to book a follow up appointment with your mentor or book with any of the other mentors.
CAN I SEND YOU MY APPLICATION IN ADVANCE?
Absolutely! Please send it to firstname.lastname@example.org; We will forward your CV / autobiographical sketch to the mentor ahead of the appointment so that they have a chance to prepare.
HOW DO I SIGN UP?
Simply go to https://vivomentor.com/pages/sign-up-to-be-a-mentor and complete the form. That's it!
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I SIGN UP?
You will receive our 2-page guide on everything you need to know about becoming a mentor. We will also ask you to provide us with additional information to populate your profile and highlight your achievements. Once we have everything ready, we will notify you that your profile has been completed.
WHAT IF I DON'T WANT TO BE AVAILABLE FOR A CERTAIN DATE?
We have updated our process. You are no longer required to send us your schedule or availabilities. Essentially, once a student books with you, we will connect you both. You can then schedule a session at your convenience.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM BOOKED BUT CANNOT ATTEND?
Simply email us at email@example.com. If you are unable to accommodate the student, especially if the issue is urgent, then we can suggest alternative mentors for the students. We understand that you are busy clinicians! This is the advantage of having many other mentors available who can cover as needed.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE APPOINTMENT?
Simply email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know that you completed the appointment. We will tally the number of hours worked and e-transfer you the payment every four weeks to your email account. We will also send you a summary of the specific appointments, duration, and payment for each.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE APPLICANT WANTS TO CONTINUE THE MEETING BEYOND THE BOOKED DURATION?
The only way to receive a payment for the added time is to have the applicant book another appointment. We cannot compensate you for any extra time beyond the agreed upon duration.
WHAT IF I ALSO WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN FORMAL MEDICAL SCHOOL AND RESIDENCY ADMISSIONS?
We encourage all mentors to comply with their specific institution's policy. This typically means being aware of conflict of interest and excusing yourself from interviewing a specific applicant, if you have received payment from him/her. This is much like excusing yourself from formally interviewing a family member or a friend. Please let us know if you have additional questions and we will be happy to assist you.
